Better Homes & Gardens October Issue- Fabric Source Info...

I have had an overwhelming response to the October feature in Better Homes & Gardens and the one question everyone wants to know is the fabric I used for the valances so after digging through my files here it is- the pattern is Waverly Torino Vapor. Praised as one of the hottest up and coming designers, Ally Whalen has exploded nationally and internationally in the world of interior design. Ally has a passion for creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but also livable. Born and raised in the beautiful state of Vermont, Ally appreciates the simple things in life. Her passion for design began in the fashion world, which eventually brought her to North Carolina where she earned a degree in Apparel and Textile Design. While her career started in the apparel industry, she ultimately stepped outside into the world of sales and marketing for many years, but never lost sight of her true passion. She continued to have a love of design, but more so in the interior design world. Decorating for friends and family allowed her creativity to explode and she eventually formed Simplicity Interiors, LLC in 2010. Since the inception, her business has taken her to places she never anticipated. From magazine photo shoots to working with top-notch photographers, Ally continues to build her business and take it to the next level.

In December of 2013, Ally and her husband Scott opened up their shop that serves as retail and design space in Cornelius, NC just north of Charlotte. Best known for mixing it up, Ally and Scott’s shop is an eclectic mix of old, new and repurposed pieces. It is also home to her private label furniture line Simplicity, which features slipcovered and upholstered sofas and chairs.

When Ally isn’t out creating beautiful spaces, you can find her spending family time with her amazing husband and 2 beautiful daughters, Avery and Piper or in the yoga studio getting rejuvenated!
